Improved Positioning Support for Wheelchair Cushions

Achieving proper positioning for wheelchair users, especially those with pelvic or postural needs, can be challenging when using pressure care cushions like air or gel types. 

The Hip Flexion Contour Universal Positioning Base is designed to help.

This base sits underneath an existing cushion and adjusts the seating surface to meet individual clinical needs, without affecting pressure care performance. It includes:

1x hip flexion contour base

A pack of 8 Velcro contouring obliquity pads

Ideal for users with limited hip flexion, it creates a fixed 10° downward ramp at the front of the cushion. This angle can be slightly adjusted using the included pads or Tessellated Shape System components.

For those with uneven hip flexibility, the contour pads can be placed under one thigh to create a level, supportive surface. Like the Ischial Contour base, it also features a pre-ischial ledge to help stabilise the pelvis and prevent forward sliding.

This system offers a practical solution for enhanced positioning under air or gel cushions, supporting posture without compromising pressure care.
